DiversitySamplingPlots is an application component of the database framework Diversity Workbench. It might be installed as part of a DWB environment, but also be used as a stand-alone application, e. g., in a local installation. Each DWB components is devoted to a specific data domain.

DiversitySamplingPlots is focussed on the management of sampling plots. In this context it is designed to document the geographical position of geoobjects and the geometry of the plots as well of georeferenced objects found on the plots. The Diversity GIS Editor is integrated. Data of other realms like, e. g., taxonomy of georeferenced single objects and documentation of the collection/ observation event are handled in separate modules. For an overview of the available DWB components see the Diversity Workbench Main Page.

Online manual

The manual is provided as pdf file (for current version check DWB user manuals) and compiled help file in CHM (= MS online help format). The compiled help file is available for separate download but is included in the zip archive of the client application as well.

Previous versions

These client applications are built for Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 or higher. Please make sure you have the correct version of this software already installed on your computer! (Check under control panel -> Software for Microsoft .Net Framework).

Features of the DiversitySamplingPlots application 3.0.7.0, May 30th, 2016

New features:

  • Source code restructured and cleaned up, obsolete controls removed.
  • Inheritance of coordinates from parent plots (of upper hierarchy), if no coordinates assigned.
  • WGS84 Localisation and GIS-Editor geographies have been synchronised. The geography objects may be created or changed using the GIS-Editor or the WGS84 control. Use the WGS84 control to delete them.
  • Database updates added.
  • Help file extended.

These bugs have been fixed:

  • When a plot had been deleted, the next Plot was marked in the query list, but the data area had vanished.
  • When a plot had been deleted, the next Plot was marked in the query list, but could not be deleted, too (had to be re-selected).
  • When a new plot had been created, the last marked plot had been displayed again on the map: Re-display now is skipped if PlotID has not changed.
  • When a new plot had been created, the new plot was marked showing an empty map area: Now GIS-Editor is switched to map mode for new plot.
  • Hierarchy search: When having selected a search branch from hierarchy tree, the branch was shown in the combobox, but vanished after search, although still active.
Features of the DiversitySamplingPlots application 3.0.6.6, January 12th, 2016

New features and fixes:

  • Inheritance of coordinates from parent plots (of upper hierarchy), if no coordinates assigned.
  • When a WGS84 localization is added, the coordinates will be assigned precisely to the geography, if not yet available (had been truncated after 4th digit behind decimal point so far).
Features of the DiversitySamplingPlots application 3.0.6.5, October 12th, 2015

New features and fixes:

  • Reconnection check with reduced timeout to avoid long waiting if no internet connection available.
  • GIS-Edit mode: 'Wait for map' message box is displayed and plots are added automatically.
  • GIS Editor update: Sample list, right click on active toggle button will switch off all other samples; right click on inactive toggle button will switch on all other samples.
Features of the DiversitySamplingPlots application 3.0.6.4, April 29th, 2015

New features and fixes:

  • Database trigger update to create geography coordinates automatically when a WGS84 localisation is created and no geography already exists
  • Multiline plot identifiers (containing Returns) no longer permitted
Features of the DiversitySamplingPlots application 3.0.6.3, January 13th, 2015

New features and fixes:

  • GIS Editor update: Load TAB separated text files (with extension .shp2) implemented
Features of the DiversitySamplingPlots application 3.0.6.2, October 23rd, 2014

New features and fixes:

  • Refresh hierarchy function added
  • DB update: Allow copy plots for Workbench Editors, too
Features of the DiversitySamplingPlots application 3.0.6.0, August 29th, 2014

New features and fixes:

  • Import Wizard implemented
  • Database Replication implemented
  • Bug fix for Copy Plots
  • Selection window for superior plots made sizable
  • Update Client window adapted to other DWB modules
  • Help file completely revised
